Technology has indeed shrunk the world. It is easier to reach out to different people in different parts of the world. People can communicate with anyone at anywhere just by moving their fingers; send their regards just by pressing a button. This allows more communication between people around the global. This is possible with the use of technology, the internet. Through internet, people can make more friends and have harmonious ties between different people of races. Emails, blogs, friendster, online chatting etc are different types of facilities you can obtain from the internet. I will be elaborating some of these facilities, discussing their uses and benefits for man.

Email is similar to writing letter to your pen pal, the difference in them is that email requires lesser time for your friend to receive the mail. Very long ago, people keep in contact with their overseas friend through the old traditional method, letter writing. They will write a short note and tie it with a pigeon, and this bird will take maybe months or even years just to have the letter given to the other. There also maybe a possibility that the letter will be destroyed, by the rain, or disappeared during the process. This way, the people lose contact with one other for a long time. However, as time goes by, people get more advanced. From the method of sending letter by a bird, to the method of sending letter by airplane, to emailing to one other just by typing into the computers. People can keep in contact with their oversea pen pal much easier, accessible and efficient. Email is one of the types of tool that shrinks the world as people are like talking to each other side by side.

Online chatting is the other device that enables people to make more friends. The difference between email and online chatting is that online chatting gets an instant reply from the other party. The conversation between the two of you, it maybe more if you open a conversation room, is like daily chatting but instead of opening your mouth, you use your hands. This is the best way to make friends anywhere, as long as they have an account and are logged on the same time as you. This improves the relationship between people and people who are less-spoken can make use of this facility to communicate with people out there. However, the disadvantage of it is that people can be easily deceived through online chatting. As these people are strangers to you, they may be lying to you all the time. This ruins the main purpose for online chatting, whereby instead of having better ties with people, you are harmed by people out there. Online chatting is therefore another part of technology whereby people are able to chat with one other so easily despite the distance between them.

Blog is similar to a diary book where you write out how your day have went, how you have felt that day. However, this is not kept secret but instead, being read by anyone in the world with internet. Along with the blog, there is a tag board whereby people will write their comments after reading your blog (may be some forms of encouragements). The reading of blogs will let other people understand their emotions and their position in the situation. This way, people will understand one another better and they will be able to live with each other better. However, blogs can also hurt people. As blogs are meant for one to show out their emotions therefore, they may start saying hurtful things to others. This is quite common as there are bloggers being charged for discriminating people through their blogs. This is another example of globalization whereby people are able to understand each other despite the gap (the distance from each other country) between them.
To end off, technology has enhanced the means of communication between people. It has indirectly shrinks the world as people are like communicating with anyone at anywhere so easily as if they are just next by. The use of these will not only saves time, but sometimes, better builds one another relationship. They can keep in contact with each other much conveniently and with less time wasted. Technology is therefore a part of globalization.
